Terms of Use

Effective October 7, 2026

The short version: You may use Cloakmark to protect your own photos and videos. You are responsible for what you process and share, and for having permission from anyone you add to People. Cloakmark works hard to find and remove faces and text, but no tool is perfect, so always review a photo before you share it.

Who we are

Cloakmark ("the app") is sold on the App Store by The Caporale Group, LLC ("we", "us"). Cloakmark is a trademark of Operational Legitimacy IP LLC. Contact: support@cloakmark.com.

These terms and Apple's EULA

By downloading or using Cloakmark you agree to these Terms of Use. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA") also applies. If the two conflict, the Standard EULA controls to the extent required. These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for any claims relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.

License to use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Cloakmark on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store usage rules. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the app except where the law allows it.

Your content and your responsibility

People (face recognition)

No guarantee of complete anonymization

Cloakmark uses automatic, best-effort detection of faces and text. It may miss a face, a name tag, a license plate or other identifying detail, and People may recognize the wrong person or miss someone. Other details in a photo (clothing, places, voices in a video) can still identify a person. Our watermark is designed to be tamper-resistant, not impossible to remove. Always review each photo and video before you share it.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cloakmark is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, that it will detect or remove every face or detail, or that it will meet your needs.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, privacy, reputation or profits, arising from your use of Cloakmark. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for Cloakmark in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Changes and termination

We may update the app and these terms. If we change the terms, we will post the new version here and update the effective date. Your license ends automatically if you break these terms; you can stop using Cloakmark at any time by deleting it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your country requires otherwise.
